The Challenge

We were appointed by Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) as its preferred Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyor, and CDM Principal Designer of their flagship £18.2 million 135-bed Extra Care development.

The Outcome

The multi-story development has been constructed on either side of Hollyhedge Road, Wythenshawe, and is linked by a glazed pedestrian bridge spanning over 60 metres.

The development provides two-bedroom self-contained living accommodation, available as a mix of outright sale, shared ownership, and affordable rent.

Key Considerations

The existing Benchill Court and Hollyhedge Court tower blocks, owned and managed by WCHG, formed an integral part of the development. The new facility provides much needed communal facilities comprising: a cafe, hair and beauty salon and spa. In addition, the following facilities have been provided: multi-functional spaces, library/IT suite, break out sun lounges, terraces, laundry, reception/office for the building staff and managers, assisted bathrooms and guest rooms.


The design team, Pozzoni LLP, Sutcliffe and ECS Consultants were carefully selected for the experience they brought to this prestigious development, in an area of Wythenshawe that has seen tremendous growth and change over the last few years, including the arrival of the Metrolink.
