Hanley Pavilion, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent

Heritage

The Challenge

This project covered the alterations and refurbishment of a 1960’s Pavilion Building on Hanley Park comprising: a new roof, curtain walling, windows and external doors, internal refurbishment and decorations, mechanical and electrical installations and external landscaping.

Key Considerations

The project was Heritage Lottery funded and therefore had strict commencement deadlines, in order to not lose the funding. The budget was also a challenge. Over budget based on the original designs, the project could not proceed at these costs. We assisted in a number of Value Engineering Exercises and in re-tendering the works which came within budget. Further savings were identified during the programme.

The Outcome

Completed in February 2021, the project was previously being undertaken by another Contract Administrator, however the client requested that we were involved following the success of another challenging scheme with this client.

Results

Further work has been undertaken with the client on a number of other new build schemes.
